Ability Beyond Granted $10,000 from Union Savings Bank Foundation
Grant to Support Employee Training and Advancement Program for Direct Care Staff

Ability Beyond, a nonprofit headquartered in Bethel, CT and Chappaqua, NY that provides a wide range of services for more than 3,000 people with disabilities each year, recently received a $10,000 grant from Union Savings Bank Foundation in support of “Pathways to Excellence,” Ability Beyond’s employee training and advancement program for direct care staff.
The Pathways to Excellence program was developed to offer direct support workforce promotional opportunities within the direct care field and in a variety of areas across Ability Beyond.
Through the Pathways to Excellence Program, Ability Beyond employees have the opportunity to train to become Direct Support Professionals and to earn advanced certifications in specialty areas including aging, behavioral supports, and mentoring and supervision.

“We understand that supporting individuals with disabilities is so much more than a job to our dedicated employees who work in the field each and every day. It is a calling, a commitment and a professional career,” said Jane Davis, President and CEO of Ability Beyond.
“The USB Foundation is proud to support Ability Beyond and their Pathways to Excellence Program,” said Michele Bonvicini, Executive Director of the Union Savings Bank Foundation. “It is extremely important to continue to educate and provide professional development for direct care workers that protect the personal safety and welfare of those they serve.”
