Allie-Brennan Exceeds Funding Goals, Qualifies for Public Finance

BETHEL, CT — Raghib Allie-Brennan, the incumbent State Representative of the 2nd District who recently began his re-election campaign, announced that he has exceeded fundraising goals, surpassing the fundraising requirement necessary to qualify for Connecticut’s Citizens Election Program.

"The speed with which we qualified is a testament to the spirit of our campaign, and the overwhelming support of the community members served. I look forward to the conversations we’ll have over the next several months, and to earning the support of the people of Bethel, Danbury, Redding and Newtown," Allie-Brennan said.

To qualify for the Citizens Election Program, which is public campaign financing, a candidate for State Representative must raise $5,300 from small dollar contributions, a portion of which must come from a minimum of 150 residents of the towns a candidate seeks to represent in the General Assembly. Allie-Brennan qualified less than ten days after announcing his re-election bid.

"I am humbled by the outpouring of support this campaign has received in the past week and a
half," Allie-Brennan said. "I firmly believe in keeping special interest money out of politics and qualifying for public financing will allow me to focus on what matters most: finding real solutions to the challenges Connecticut residents face, and exchanging ideas with the voters of the 2nd District."
