Allie-Brennan To Host PURA Workshop For Residents On Tuesday

State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan and the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority will hold a Virtual PURA 101 Workshop

BETHEL, CT — State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan (Bethel, Danbury, Redding, Newtown) and the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority will hold a Virtual PURA 101 Workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

During the workshop, participants will learn what PURA regulates, how to engage in PURA's decision-making process and access docket materials, as well as how residential electrical bills and rates are set, and how to purchase electricity through third party suppliers. The presentation will also walk consumers through reading their monthly electric bill and interpreting key information about their energy usage. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.

"I am looking forward to the discussion with Representative Allie-Brennan and his constituents around how PURA operates as Connecticut's utility regulator, understanding your electric bill, the third party supplier market and other related topics. It's important that ratepayers across Connecticut are kept apprised of key issues before PURA as well as how best to stay informed and become involved in the regulatory process," said PURA Chairman Marissa Gillett.

I'm pleased to partner with PURA Chairman Gillett and PURA Director of Legislation, Regulations and Communications Taren O'Connor to bring this helpful workshop to residents so they can better understand their energy bills, what drives energy costs, the role of PURA and how to become involved in regulatory decisions that impact us all," said Rep. Allie-Brennan.

PURA is a quasi-judicial agency charged with ensuring Connecticut's investor-owned utilities provide safe, clean, reliable, and affordable utility service and infrastructure.
