Vota is charged with first-degree assault on an elderly person, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree breach of peace, Libertini said.

The charges stem from a stabbing reported around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Greenwood Avenue, where a 69-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his upper back and wrist, police said.

The victim was transported to Danbury Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody without incident following the stabbing.

Vota remains under police supervision at the hospital while awaiting further processing, Libertini said.
