BETHEL, CT — A driver was rescued after a vehicle left the roadway and overturned into a river in Bethel on Friday, according to the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company.
The crash happened June 26. Fire officials said responding police officers and a nearby homeowner extricated the driver from the overturned vehicle before EMS crews arrived.
Firefighters and EMS personnel then removed the patient from the water and the driver was transported to Danbury Hospital, according to the fire company.
A heavy-duty crane was later used to safely recover the vehicle from the river, fire officials said.
The fire company did not release information about the cause of the crash or the driver's condition.
