Bethel Fire Department Hosting Pop-Up Splash Pad To Beat The Heat

The free event will feature sprinklers, misters and firefighter-led water games this week.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel Fire & EMS is inviting families to cool off at a free pop-up splash pad Thursday as Connecticut's stretch of extreme heat continues.

The event will take place from 2:30 to 5 p.m. July 2 on the Municipal Center lawn and will feature sprinklers, misters and firefighter-led water games. The splash pad is being hosted in partnership with the Town of Bethel.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fire officials encourage attendees to wear clothing suitable for water play, apply sunscreen, stay hydrated and bring a towel.

The event comes as Connecticut is expected to experience dangerously hot and humid conditions through the holiday weekend, with the hottest weather forecast for Wednesday through Friday.

Forecasters say inland temperatures could approach or exceed 100 degrees, while the combination of heat and humidity may push heat index values above 105 degrees in some areas, increasing the risk of heat-related illness.
