BETHEL, CT — The Bethel Wildcats 13U baseball team has captured the Babe Ruth New England Regional Championship, earning a trip to the World Series, according to town officials.
The Wildcats secured the regional title with a hard-fought 6-5 victory over the Westfield Babe Ruth 13U All-Stars, the Town of Bethel announced Friday.
Town officials said the team has been playing together since Cal Ripken 8U and has won three state championships. In four previous appearances at the regional tournament, the Wildcats reached the semifinals twice and the championship game once before claiming their first New England title this year.
The regional championship sends Bethel to the Babe Ruth 13U World Series, scheduled for Aug. 13-22 in Jamestown, New York, where the Wildcats will represent the New England Region.
The championship roster includes Johnmarcos Adames, Eli Beverly, Josh Brewster, Noah Burke, Bradley Carroll, Max DeMoura, Jasper Kasack, Alex Martin, Lucas McGerity, Riley Rozon, Oliver Spear and Owen Sveda.
