BETHEL, CT — Big changes could be coming to Blue Jay Orchards, where the new owners are seeking permission to add a winery, microbrewery, restaurant and festivals to the longtime Bethel attraction, according to a report.
The Covino family, which purchased the 122-acre orchard for $4 million in December, is proposing zoning changes that would allow additional agricultural businesses, including food trucks, craft markets and children's recreational areas, the News-Times reported.
Bethel's Planning and Zoning Commission accepted an application from Mille Mele LLC on Oct. 13 seeking changes to the town's Agricultural Overlay District regulations and zoning map. A public hearing is scheduled for Nov. 24, according to town meeting minutes.
