BETHEL, CT — Pet owners in the Bethel area will soon have another option when their dogs or cats need medical attention outside regular veterinary office hours.
Animal Urgent Care is scheduled to open Dec. 7 at 81 Stony Hill Road in the Big Y Plaza, offering treatment for pets with illnesses and injuries that require prompt care but may not warrant a visit to a traditional emergency veterinary hospital.
The clinic recently shared additional information about its services and hours as it prepares to welcome patients.
According to its website, Animal Urgent Care will treat dogs and cats experiencing a range of medical issues, including ear infections, allergic reactions, diarrhea, dehydration, coughing, eye problems, skin conditions and loss of appetite.
The clinic will also provide care for minor injuries, including cuts, bites, stings, abscesses, limping, nail injuries and post-surgical incision concerns.
Other listed services include pain management, evaluations for possible fractures, end-of-life care and euthanasia.
Animal Urgent Care says its goal is to provide pet owners with an alternative to traditional emergency veterinary hospitals, with an emphasis on shorter wait times and more affordable treatment.
The business also plans to support local veterinary practices by offering an after-hours option for patients who need attention when their regular veterinarian is unavailable.
The clinic advertises weekday hours from noon to 10 p.m. and weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Patients will be assessed based on the urgency of their medical needs, meaning wait times may vary depending on other cases being treated, according to the clinic.
