Anonymous Bethel Twitter Accounts Prompt Plea From Principal
Sexual harassment, bullying — Twitter accounts created by Bethel students are crossing the line, the principal says.

Bethel High School Principal Christopher M. Troetti has a message for any BHS student who creates an anonymous Twitter account and uses it to violate school policy:
Any student who does so is subject to school discipline, including suspension.
Troetti sent a Nov. 19 letter to parents, notifying them of a recent trend in Bethel.

“In the past few weeks there have been a number of anonymous twitter accounts created by students,” he wrote. “The owners of these accounts have been posting inappropriate and hurtful tweets focused on both students and staff. These accounts disrupt the educational process and violate a number of Bethel Public Schools policies, including harassment, sexual harassment and bullying.”
Troetti is asking parents to join school staff in talking to their children about the matter.

“We would also ask that you encourage your student to not follow or retweet the postings as this condones this behavior,” he said. “We thank you for your time and attention to this matter and for supporting us in combating this issue.”
