Bethel Announces Summer Openings, Activity Plans
The dog park, outdoor athletic fields, and tennis courts are already open
BETHEL, CT — As the state entered into its second phase of reopening following the coronavirus outbreak, the town has announced its plans for opening recreational facilities in time for summer.
The following areas are now open, social distancing is still required:
- Outdoor/athletic fields
- Dog park
- Tennis courts
- Playgrounds (opening June 24)
- Pavilions for rental at Meckauer Park (40 people) and Bennett Park (100 people)

- Virtual Theater
- Virtual Camp (Preschool, Junior and Senior)
- Virtual Teen Bootcamp
- Virtual Yoga for Kids, families and adults
- Skyhawks virtual clinics
- Tennis clinics (at school complex courts) beginning July 14 (sign-ups will begin June 24)
In a letter to parents, Parks and Recreation Director Eileen Earle said she hoped to have the following in person camps in August:
- Skyhawks (dates, times and ages TBA)
- Rawlings basketball (dates, times and ages TBA)
- Tennis camps
- Other in person half day options
