Bethel Baseball kicked off the opening ceremonies for the 18th Annual Jimmy Fund Tournament Monday night at Mitchell Park.
Prior to the tournament, Bethel resident Bill Slifkin was honored for his 30 year service to the Bethel Baseball Association (BBA). After becoming involved in 1977, Slifkin was president of the BBA from 1982-2010.
"This is a surprise; I didn't expect this," Slifkin said. "This is a very special tournament. Everything we do, we do it for the children."
