Bethel Budget: Try, Try Again
Voters send town and capital spending proposals to a May 10 referendum.

BETHEL, CT — Voters on Tuesday sent the $29.5 million town and $1.1 million capital spending plans to a May 10 referendum. Previous proposals for a $29.8 million town and $2.3 million capital budget were shot down by Bethel residents on April 11. A $45.1 million school budget passed.
Going to referendum is a town expenditure proposal just $325,000 less than what was rejected earlier this month. Overall town and school spending would be at a 2.3 percent increase from this year.
