Bethel Cafe's Colossal Milkshakes Cause Social Media Wildfire: Report

Customer demand has caused lines to form out the door, and the cafe to hire more staff to keep up, say the store's owners.

BETHEL, CT — When a local cafe and ice cream parlor decided to make some larger-than-life milkshakes, they didn't anticipate the stir the shakes would cause in the internet age, reports CT Bites.

According to the report, Cream & Sugar Cafe developed its first "freakshake," the Rainy Day Remedy, over the winter break. However, what began as an unusual menu item eventually went viral on the internet, with customers sharing photos of the shakes on social media and creating a serious demand for the colossal shakes.

Owner Alyce Kallman told CT bites that lines have begun to form out the door and forced her to hire more staff to keep up with customer demand. The shop has even attracted customers from as far away from Brooklyn.
