Bethel Cheerleader and Team Wins Paid Bid to World Cheerleading Championships

A Bethel cheerleader, along with her team Xtreme Cheer Connecticut, will compete against top all-star cheer teams from around the world.

Bethel resident Alexandra Richter, a 21-year-old young mother, along with her team Inferno from Xtreme Cheer Connecticut, recently earned a full paid bid to compete in 2016 at The Worlds, the premier international competition in the cheerleading world.

The United States All Star Federation (USASF) hosts the Cheerleading World Championship annually where teams compete throughout the season to earn the chance to participate with only a select few earning a full paid bid. This international event brings together more than 9,000 cheer athletes to compete for world champion titles in senior and international club divisions and categories.

This is the fourth time that Xtreme Cheer, a Norwalk-based program, earned a bid to compete in the high-profile event. Cheerleading World Championships will take place in April and will be televised on ESPN.

Xtreme Cheer‘s Inferno team is made up of athletes ranging in age from 14 to 35 who come from all over Connecticut and New York to compete.

“Along with one of our teams securing a bid to Worlds, our other teams had incredible showings with four teams winning first place and two second place wins. All of our athletes did amazing jobs on the mat,” said Mike Talbot who owns Xtreme Cheer along with his wife Dana.
