  • The SCOTTY Fund helps Bethel families who have a child who is undergoing cancer treatment by providing financial assistance and free home meal deliveries. They also help Bethel families who may have a parent who has cancer and their child is being affected due to the parent’s treatments. By providing free meals, The SCOTTY Fund helps to take away the work, worry and stress out of cooking so they can care for their child. The meal train dinner services are provided by volunteers who cook and deliver them right to the cancer patient’s home. Financial assistance is given through fundraisers, the biggest being The SCOTTY Fund picnic on Sept. 12, 2015. Grant money is also given to children for medical expenses, transportation and other costs associated with the illness. The SCOTTY Fund also provides family support including child care, running errands and grocery shopping.”

Why do you feel is this person is an Everyday Hero?

  • “The SCOTTY Fund are Everyday Heroes because they help families as they fight a very hard, scary battle by giving of their time, talent and financial assistance so the parents can caregivers can focus on helping their child get better. They do this hard work all out of the kindness and goodness of their hearts. Sometimes dinners come with cards or flowers or well wishes and it is such a huge blessing to know there is an army of kind-hearted volunteers out there, perfect strangers, who care about helping our family. To carry on the legacy of her son in this way, Linda Anderson and her family are ensuring that Scotty’s memory lives on in helping and healing others.”
