Bethel Finance Board Shaves Town Budget to $31.6 Million
The first 2019-20 town budget proposal was rejected by voters last week
BETHEL, CT — The finance board voted to reduce the municipal operations budget to $31.6 million on Tuesday night, striking $385,000 from the plan rejected last week by voters, the News-Times is reporting.
The new plan along with the already-approved school and capital budgets would bring the total spend to a little under $78 million, which translates to an overall town and school spending increase of 4.8 percent.
Residents will get their chance to weigh in on the revised proposal at a town meeting at 7 p.m., April 24 in the multipurpose room of the municipal center.
