Bethel Firefighters Rescue Dog Fallen Through Ice At Private Pond
Bethel fire officials credited a recent drill reviewing their ice rescue equipment for helping the dog rescue go smoothly.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel firefighters made good use of their recent ice rescue drills and equipment to rescue a dog from a pond Tuesday night.
At 10:30, members of Bethel Fire & EMS and Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company received word of a dog that had fallen through the ice at a private pond on Walnut Hill Road.
Crews donned cold water suits and quickly retrieved the pup from the pond without incident., according to Stony Hill officials.

Thawing ice can be "extremely dangerous," the firefighters warned on social media. " Should an animal fall through the ice, it is best to call 911, as we have the resources to help without risking your own safety."
