The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County (HBRA), the largest state branch of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has awarded college scholarships to two Connecticut high school honors students through its non-profit foundation, the Vision Fund, Inc. The Vision Fund annually awards scholarships to students pursuing post secondary education who are dependents of employees of HBRA-member companies.

The 2011 Vision Fund Scholarship recipients are Alexandra Rollo of Hamden and Corinne Bruckenthal of Bethel. Each will receive $4,000, to be spread out during the course of their four-year academic studies.

Bruckenthal, a graduate of Bethel High School, will be attending Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where she plans to complete a five-year Master’s program in education. She has assisted the Bethel Junior Color Guard program at Bethel High School and is employed at the Outback Steakhouse in Danbury. Her mother, Marie Bruckenthal is employed by U.S. Insulation in Bethel.

Mary Boudreau, vice president of the Vision Fund says this year’s recipients are all-around scholars who excel in and out of the classroom.

“Alexandra and Corinne represent the best of the Vision Fund Scholarship Program because they are academic scholars, humanitarians, and well-rounded students, which are the qualities we seek in our candidates," she said. "The HBRA is pleased to be assisting them with their college education, and wish them both a successful academic career.”
