Bethel Has a Job Opening for a Poet Laureate

This is a two-year appointment open to all Bethel residents.

BETHEL, CT -- The Town of Bethel, in collaboration with Bethel Arts, has announced the creation of the position of Honorary Poet Laureate.

Honorary Poet Laureate will be an unpaid position and will be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Duties include composing poems for special events and occasional leadership roles in expanding the community's knowledge of literature and poetry.

This is a two-year appointment open to all Bethel residents. The BOS will receive recommendations based on work submitted to a panel of volunteers with the Bethel Arts Association.

The candidate must submit 3 original works of poetry as well as a special submission to be read at the opening ceremony of the new Bethel police station. Upon reaching finalists, the panel will conduct an in-person interview where candidates will read their work.

Submission deadline is Sunday, June 3.
