Bethel to Host 'Opioid Roundtable' at Police HQ
Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz and State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan will be on board

BETHEL, CT — Law enforcement, health care professionals, and first responders will join other local experts, as well as Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz and State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan (D-2), for a discussion of the opioid epidemic on Friday.
Connecticut is among the top ten states with the highest rates of opioid-related overdose deaths, according to a federal report. From 1999 through 2012, the death rate in Connecticut hovered near the national average. Through 2016, a more than fourfold increase was seen—from 5.7 deaths per 100,000 persons to 24.5 deaths per 100,000 persons.
Speakers will discuss the opioid epidemic, its impact on families and communities across Connecticut and solutions for addressing the crisis, according to the Facebook event page.
