Bethel Market Worker Charged With Larceny In Lottery Scam: Police
Police have charged a Bethel woman with second-degree larceny after they said she tried to scam the Connecticut Lottery.
BETHEL, CT — Police have charged a Bethel woman with second-degree larceny after they said she tried to scam the Connecticut Lottery.
On Aug. 19, the Bethel Police Department received a report that a 41-year-old employee of Chestnut Market at 203 Greenwood Avenue was trying to game the state lottery.
According to police, the woman was taking scratch-off lottery tickets, exposing their barcode, scanning them to determine if there were any cash winnings, then disposing of them. Police say the woman had taken $11,505 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets during her shift that day.

The woman was released on a $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear before Danbury Superior Court on Dept. 1.
