  • My father, Allan J. Kellogg, Jr., is now 71 years old. He was in the Marines and was a Staff Sgt. at the time he received his medal. He retired as Sgt. Major after serving 33 years. During his second tour in Vietnam, a grenade dropped into the midst of he and his men one night. To save his men, he pushed the grenade into the mud and threw himself on top of it to absorb the impact. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor from President Nixon in 1973. He is from Bethel, Conn. and is currently living in Hawaii.

Patch thanks Allan J. Kellogg, Jr. for his service.
