If you drive through our quintessential New England small town you cannot help but notice the patriotic spirit of our town as our national standard flies proudly from each downtown lamppost. It is especially striking to see our flags flying in the early morning sun, or as the sun is low in the evening.
The Bethel Navy JROTC cadets once again posted the flags, just in time for the Bethel Memorial Day parade and in time to honor our nation’s fallen heroes. Under the watchful eye of the Bethel NJROTC parents who ensured safety, the cadets worked together to post over 50 flags in just over an hour. This project was completed quickly thanks to the leadership and organization of Cadet Alex Rosario, a BHS Sophomore, who led the team that mounted the flags and replaced all the worn hardware on the poles. Alex also ensured there were sufficient amounts of spare hardware and tools on hand, and he oversaw the ordering of the new flags for this year as well as the cleaning of the serviceable flags left over from last year. Under his leadership, the cadets also proudly posted the service flags of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard on the lampposts of P.T. Barnum Square.
The cadets would like to thank the NJROTC Boosters who helped pay for all of the flags, and the people of the town of Bethel for their continued support.
