BETHEL, CT — The Bethel Police Department announced Saturday that former officer Liberty Andreotto died Dec. 31. Her death came after a "long and courageous battle with cancer," according to police officials.

Andreotto, 43, began her career with the BPD as a civilian dispatcher in 1999 before becoming a police officer with the department in 2001. She transferred to the Records Department, serving as Records Supervisor for several years, before leaving the police to raise her two children, according to a post on the BPD Facebook page.

"Liberty was tremendously caring and will always be remembered for her radiant smile," police officials posted.
