Bethel PD Warns About Fake Neighborhood Watch Postcards

Someone is falsely accusing residents of crimes.

BETHEL, CT — Police are investigating a series of postcards falsely accusing residents of crimes. The postcards purport to be from a "Neighborhood Watch."

The postcards claim that certain named residents or their family members have been arrested for various crimes, the police warned on social media.

The police posted a photo of one postcard, with the names of the residents falsely accused redacted.

"In all cases we have received thus far, the accusations are completely false and fabricated. In the event that you receive one of these postcards you may report it to the Bethel Police Department or you can simply discard them in the trash as they are not from the Bethel Police Department or any legitimate source," a police spokesperson wrote in a Facebook post.

The police are directing anyone with questions or who may have more information on the matter to Detective Sergeant Bryce at 203-744-7900 x114.
