Topic #1: Kudos to Bethel High Senior Brian Michalka who represented the student body last night in offering a farewell tribute to retiring Superintendent, Dr. Gary Chesley in front of a room filled with our parents, staff, local and state government officials, regional superintendents, and many other honored guests. Brian was poised, polished and exceptionally well spoken. Brian exemplified the very best of what we have come to expect from our Bethel students. Congratulations on a job well done!
Topic #2: Congratulations to all of the students, staff, and parents who worked together to put on a phenomenal production of Willy Wonka. This production is another example of the many ways our community works in concert to create opportunities for our students to showcase their talents. Many thanks to all those who put in the countless hours that made Willy Wonka an exemplary production and to those individuals and businesses whose financial support made it possible.
Topic #3: Sixty-two BHS and thirty BMS students will participate in this weekend's Science Horizons competition. This is a regional event comprised of area schools, where middle and high school students display the results of their science fair projects and research. The Science Horizons 2012 Fair will be held in Berkshire hall on the mid-town campus of WCSU, weather permitting. The winners of this weekend’s competition will move on to the Connecticut State Science Fair, a yearly, statewide science and engineering fair open to all 7th through 12th grade students. An important objective of our program is to attract young people to careers in science while developing skills essential to critical thinking.
Public viewing of students’ science experiments is scheduled for Saturday, 12:30pm – 2pm and Sunday, 11am-1pm. The awards ceremony begins at 1pm on Sunday. Good luck to Bethel’s scientists!
