Bethel Requesting Proposals for Schools Renovation Project

Proposals are due at 1 p.m. May 8.

BETHEL, CT --- The town has put out a request for proposals from commissioning agents or other firms who could provide professional services for the Rockwell and Johnson schools renovation project, the News-Times has reported

Last October, voters approved the $65.8 million for renovations to the Rockwell and Johnson elementary schools by a narrow margin. Residents making up 22 percent of Bethel's registered voters turned out to pass the funding by a 1,477 to 1,265 vote.

A site walk will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Johnson. Proposals are due at 1 p.m. May 8 to the town’s purchasing agent.

The Board of Education began discussions regarding the project in 2010. The project is currently being overseen by the Board of Education, Board of Education Ad-Hoc Rockwell School/Johnson School Committee including, Board of Education members, school administrators, community members, Board of Finance members, and parents.
