Bethel Resident Hurt in I-684 Crash

Speed and weather were factors in a collision Monday, police said.

SOUTHEAST, NY – A three-car collision on I-684 in Southeast during Monday's thunderstorms injured two people, New York State police said. One is a Fishkill resident and the other is from Bethel, Connecticut.

State police from the Somers barracks were called to the crash at about 12L35 p.m. June 19.

An investigation indicates that James Desposito, 64, of Bethel, Connecticut, was traveling south on I 684. Melissa Romagnoli, 44, of Fishkill, New York, and Patrick N. Dell, 52, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, were traveling north on I 684.

Desposito’s vehicle reportedly exited the roadway due to unsafe speed for the weather conditions, police said.

His vehicle entered the median and struck Dell’s northbound vehicle. Romagnoli, unable to take evasive action, subsequently struck Desposito’s vehicle.

Desposito and Romagnoli were transported to Danbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
