It’s a new year, and Bethel’s Byrd’s Books is ready to propel you into 2024 with the best books to read, to ponder and to share. On Thursday, January 18th at 7:30pm. Bethel’s popular independent book source will kick off its Book Group gatherings with Self-Portrait with Nothing by Aimee Pokwatka. The New York Times called her debut novel a “tantalizing and elusive lacework, delicately balanced between branches of fantasy, mystery and realism like a spider’s web.” Ms. Pokwatka will be on hand to join in the discussion.
Combining a thrilling race against time with an authentic and touching personal drama, Self-Portrait with Nothing is an unforgettable exploration of what it means to be part of a family, while teetering on edges of the sci-fi genre and the fringes of parallel universes. Copies of Self-Potrait with Nothing are available at Byrd’s Book now, as are copies of future Book Group reads.
