Bethel Schools Calendar 2015-16

The new school year begins in Bethel in 8 days. Here are important dates you need to know.

You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Bethel School District.

First day of school: Aug. 26

Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 7

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Professional development day (school closed): Nov. 3

Early dismissal: Nov. 25

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 26-27

Winter break early dismissal: Dec. 23

Winter break: Dec. 24-Jan. 3 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Staff development (no school): Jan. 15

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Presidents Day (school closed): Feb. 15, 16

Good Friday (schools closed): Mar. 25

Spring break (schools closed): Apr. 11 - 15

Memorial Day (school closed): May 30

Last day of school: June 10

Note: Calendar provides for 181 student days and 186 staff days.

*School days lost to weather or other emergency conditions will be made up June 13-30, as needed. If 5 or more snow days are used by Presidents’ Day Recess, the District will be in session on February 15 & 16. We will make every effort to avoid using April 11-15. Please be aware of this information when making travel plans. State law does not allow for school to be in session on a Saturday or Sunday. Extending the school day is also not permitted.
