Bethel Schools Name New Superintendent To Replace Longtime Leader
The new superintendent will take over the district's top role this summer following a board vote this week.
BETHEL, CT — Bethel Public Schools has selected a new superintendent to lead the district.
The Bethel Board of Education appointed Dr. Albert N.L. Sackey as superintendent during a special meeting on March 30, according to school officials.
Sackey will officially assume the role on July 1, replacing Dr. Christine Carver, who has served as superintendent since 2014.

Sackey currently serves as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning in Hartford Public Schools, a position he has held since 2025.
Before that, he was an assistant superintendent in Bridgeport, where he oversaw special education, student affairs and other district programs. He has also worked as a middle school principal in Norwalk and Larchmont, New York.

School officials said the search for a new superintendent included community input through surveys and focus groups.
In a statement included in the announcement, Sackey said he is aligned with the district’s mission and focused on supporting students.
“The commitment to inspiring and preparing students aligns with my leadership philosophy,” Sackey said.
