Bethel Selectmen Make Decision on Religious Holiday Displays

The decision came at a Tuesday, Aug. 20, meeting.

BETHEL, CT — The Board of Selectmen ruled that religious displays will be allowed on town property, the News-Times is reporting.

The decision came at a Tuesday, Aug. 20, meeting.

The town further decided that applications would enter a lottery if there was not enough space to accommodate each display. This call ran counter to the recommendation of the recently-formed Religious Displays Committee, which urged that the existing Christian and atheist displays be prioritized over new applications.
