Bethel and Stony Hill Fire Respond to Fire at The Summit Clubhouse

Mutual aid for the Bethel fire was provided by Danbury's Engine 22 and Newtown's Dodgingtown Fire Companies.

Fire Marshal Thomas Galliford said the Bethel Stony Hill Fire Departments responded to an automatic fire alarm at 6:20 p.m. Sunday at 1 Great Hill Drive (The Summit Clubhouse).

“Upon arrival, a fire was discovered in the men’s bathroom on the lower level. It was quickly extinguished. Damage was limited to the bathroom area. There were no injuries,” Galliford said in a statement.

Rob Fish, a retired firefighter, said the fire was contained to the sauna, with collateral smoke and water damage.

The Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire appears to be accidental in and no one was injured. The building will remain closed until repairs can be made, he stated.
