Bethel Students are Invited to Enroll in Magnet School Lottery
Students from Newtown, Bethel, Redding, Brookfield, New Milford, New Fairfield and Danbury are invited to apply.

The Danbury magnet elementary school is holds their annual lottery for enrollment now until Jan. 21.
Students from Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown and Redding are invited to apply for enrollment for the K-5 elementary school, Western Connecticut Academy of International Studies. Student selection will be made through the application and annual lottery.
The school of global studies is located adjacent to the Westside campus of Western Connecticut State University. AIS operates under the state guidelines as a “public school of choice” and governed by the Danbury Board of Education.

The application for admission is available online at www.danbury.k12.ct.us. The deadline to apply for the 2015-16 school year is Jan. 21, 2015. Students who applied last year and were placed on a waiting list must reapply online.
Editor’s note: While Bethel is not one of the 5 “participating districts,” they do accept Bethel students after the first participating towns students are chosen. In 2012 the News Times reported the school had 44 students from “non-partner” towns, including 34 from Bethel.
