Bethel Voters Approve Train Station Canopy

The rebuild should begin within a couple months and take about six weeks.

BETHEL, CT -- Residents agreed to spend about $175,000 to repair the damaged canopy at the old train station, the News Times has reported.

The state has promised to pay for $36,800 of the project, while about $37,000 in an account for the train station will cover some of the cost. The town will pay the remaining $101,000 and will be reimbursed by the brewery over the next six years.

Both the canopy and the train station were built in 1899 and are on the state Register of Historic Places.
