Bethel Weather Alert: Wind Gusts, Hail, Lightning and More

The National Weather Service is predicting stormy weather on Tuesday and has issued a 'Hazardous Weather Outlook.'

There is the potential for it to be another stormy day on Tuesday as the National Weather Service has issued “Hazardous Weather Outlooks” and a “Special Weather Statement” for a majority of the state.

The National Weather Service writes, “a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. this evening.” The best chance for severe weather is in northern Connecticut, the weather service writes in its early morning advisory.

Damaging wind gusts, hail, heavy rain, and lightning are all possible.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for northern Fairfield, northern New Haven, and northern Middlesex counties.

There is a chance of thunderstorms producing damaging winds and or large hail this afternoon and early evening, the National Weather Service writes.

For areas along the immediate coastline, southern Fairfield, southern New Haven, and New London counties there is still a chance of severe weather.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible between 11-5, and there is a greater chance of severe weather between 5 p.m. and up until 7 p.m. tonight.

And more stormy weather is forecast for Thursday and Saturday.

This Afternoon - A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight - Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7pm and 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 5 to 8 mph.

Thursday - Scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Saturday - A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 61.
