Bethel WinterFest - Celebrate the Holidays Close to Home

Join us for a season of fun filled activities to promote community and holiday spirit in the Town of Bethel.


Kick off the holiday spirit of giving at the Stony Hill Tree Lighting Ceremony and Food Drive hosted by the Stony Hill 4 Corners on Saturday November 22nd. The Food Drive will take place between 10am and 6pm and will benefit Bethel and Newtown Food Pantries. The Tree Lighting will take place between 5:30pm and 6:30pm with

Mr. & Mrs. Claus arriving by Fire Truck with snacks, hot drinks, singing, dancing, and holiday music.
After Thanksgiving dinner and early morning shopping on Friday November 28th bring your family and friends and come downtown for a Holiday Treat at Bethel’s Tree Lighting Ceremony on PT Barnum Sq. Take a ride around historic downtown Bethel in a Horse Drawn Carriage Ride, stroll along and shop all of the local merchants, sip on hot cocoa and soup, enjoying caroling, a Pipe Organ Recital, and of course Santa. Friday’s festivities begin at 2pm with lighting of the tree at 6pm.

On Saturday November 29th work off all those extra calories at the 4th Annual Run Santa Run 5K for charities. A family friendly walk/run through downtown Bethel. Registration begins at 9am on the lawn of the Municipal Center, followed by the Kids Fun Run at 10:15, and the race begins at 11am. The Kids Fun Run is for kids 8 and under and admission is free with the donation of a Toy. Race Fee the day of is $28 but you can pre-register by going runsantarun.org or bethelchamber.com. The first 300 racers receive a super cool t-shirt. After the race is over, visit with Santa at the Santa’s Village Marketplace inside the Municipal Center. The Marketplace will be filled with crafters, and artisans featuring unique gifts for everyone on your list. In support of Small Business Saturday, local merchants will be hosting special events all day long.

The holiday fun continues throughout the month of December with the introduction of Wine and Shop. Wine & Shop passport holders can visit over a dozen local merchants on Thursday evenings and enjoy a glass of wine while they shop.
