Bethel Woman Accused of Stealing $656K from Elderly Aunt

Instead of using the money to care for her aunt, the woman allegedly spent it on lavish trips to Europe, casinos and more.

A 62-year-old Bethel woman is being accused of stealing $656,000 from her 84-year-old aunt, according to the News Times.

Barbara Pyne, of Wolfpits Road, was given power of attorney to oversee the her aunt’s hospital bills and assisted living expenses, but instead, Pyne allegedly spent the money on casino trips, lavish Europe vacations and other personal items.

Bethel police charged the 62-year-old with first-degree larceny. She is being held on a $25,000 surety bond.
