Bethel's YMCA Children's Center Celebrates Sexauer Foundation Grant

The Children's Center dedicated the renovated Toddler Room to Nancy Sexauer Walsh.

On Monday, the welcomed Board of Directors, Board of Trustees and members of the Sexauer Foundation to dedicate

Marie Miszewski, CEO of the Regional YMCA, welcomed the visitors before the dedication and room tour.

"This is a great example of what we're all about; two foundations coming together to give our kids a better opportunity," Miszewski said. "As we talk about strengthening the foundation of our community, these are the tools that let us do that. For that, we greatly appreciate the gift made by the Sexauer Foundation."

Thomas Abbamont, an officer of the Sexauer Foundation, explained that the organization was about helping people and even though it was created a few generations ago, this grant wouldn't have been possible without Nancy Sexauer's decision to keep it going during 60s.

"...And that's one of the reasons we wanted to dedicate this room to Nancy, because without her saying 'yes' we wouldn't be here today," Abbamont said.

Nearly everything in Toddler Room is brand new and one of its primary new features include several wooden dividers, gates and furniture that can be moved and reconnected to fit the room's needs. Currently it helps divide the room in two and adds storage.

Miszewski said: "These 2-years-olds have no idea how lucky they are...I know some day they'll thank us."
