The latest work which will be featured this Spring, is by Connecticut Visionary Artist, Gloria Owens. Born and raised in New York City, Gloria Owens earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at The State University of New York at Purchase, where she studied graphic design, photography and printmaking. Over the past 25 years her award-winning professional graphic design work has encompassed branding, packaging and marketing materials for clients large and small. But it is her deep exploration of yoga & meditation that has unveiled layers of consciousness, awareness and dreams that have inspired her personal artwork.

Her latest art creations are mandalas, collages and surreal landscapes that combine her original photography and sacred geometry. These unique pieces dive into the themes of transformation, creation, pathways, journeys, energy, flow, balance, peace, wholeness and the wonder of Nature.

Their purpose? To open the heart and soothe the soul – helping each of us remember we are divine, connected and that peace is possible in the present moment. In fact, as a Kripalu-certified yoga teacher for two decades and the co-owner of YogaSpace in Brookfield, CT, Gloria has been guiding students to these same essential truths – on the yoga mat as well as on the canvas.

Creating a more peaceful, balanced and awakened world through uplifting and transcendent imagery is a thread that is woven through many of Gloria's pieces, and one of the reasons Darryl Soifersmith, the owner of Take Time, was drawn to her work. It is also the reason why Gloria's pieces were chosen to be part of the United Nations' Culture of Peace symposium during the 2010 week of Spirituality, Values & Global Concerns.

"Art has the ability to touch our unconscious minds and our hearts in ways that words sometimes can't", Gloria says, "just as therapeutic massage can go beyond releasing the muscular tension in our bodies and aid in deep healing on the psycho-spiritual level."

Whether for contemplation, relaxation, inspiration or decoration you will find exquisite beauty in Gloria’s creations... and the gallery at Take Time Relaxation Center is the perfect venue to view this kind of artwork. The Gallery is open Monday 10 – 6, Tuesday through Friday 10 – 8, Saturday 10 – 6, and Sunday 11 – 4.
