Brown Water? Chimney Heights Water Flushing Begins

Bethel residents who are Aquarion customers in Chimney Heights may see some discoloration during the cleaning of water mains next week.

BETHEL, CT — Aquarion Water Company released the following information regarding water main cleaning in the Chimney Heights section of Bethel next week.

"Aquarion Water Company today announced a water main cleaning project in Bethel’s Chimney Heights system from Monday, April 18 through Thursday, April 21 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The water main cleaning project is being undertaken to ensure that customers continue to receive the highest quality water.

The Chimney Heights project should last approximately one week and, during that time, customers may notice some discoloration in their water. This discoloration results from the temporary disturbance of the water flow, which stirs up naturally occurring minerals that settle in water mains.

Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking. Customers should also refrain from washing laundry if water is discolored. Prior to resuming use, customers should run their cold water faucets until the water appears clear.

Aquarion appreciates its customers’ understanding and patience. For questions, please call Aquarion’s Customer Service Department at 1-800-732-9678.
