Calling All Giving Residents: Bethel Social Services Needs Help This Holiday Season!

Jenn Lawlor, new Director of Bethel Social Services, is seeking donations from businesses and residents for their holiday basket program.

From Jenn Lawlor, Director, Bethel Social Services

The Social Services office of Bethel is currently looking for individuals, families, groups and/or businesses to help with our Holiday program. Each year many Bethel residents seek support and I am looking for people who’d like to be part of helping them. Some examples of how you can help without too much financial burden on any one person include but are not limited to:

  1. Getting together with close friends/family/neighbors to “adopt” a family in need
  2. A group of people from work adopting a family (or more depending on how many people can help)
  3. A sports team, girl/boy scouts troop or any other club collecting money/gift cards from each family and then going shopping together for the items on the list(s) I will provide you with. For some groups this can even be part of a badge or required community service activity
  4. Church groups, Men’s and Women’s clubs, Moms clubs etc.

Along with specific family adoptions I am looking to find a business or two here in Town that would be willing to have a Giving Tree in their offices. I will prepare the tags for items needed, nothing will exceed $50(many are much less than that) and you’d just need to set up a display to hang them from. The Municipal Center has one in the Main Lobby every year and it helps so much to offset the small budget the Social Service office is working with. I would be happy to give you more information if you think you’d be interested in helping in this way.
