CPR Class to be Held at Bethel Firehouse on Sunday
This Bethel CPR course is an excellent opportunity to acquire a life-saving asset for your family and fellow members of the public.

From the Bethel Fire Department:
The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department would like to formally invite the citizens and visitors of our great town, to attend our public CPR training event at our Firehouse at 36 South Street on November 15, 2015. Our goal is to educate the public with the basic knowledge necessary to provide a life-saving intervention to individuals who experience cardiac arrest.
Cardiac arrest is defined by the American Heart Association as “when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. Seconds later, a person becomes unresponsive, is not breathing, or is only gasping. Death occurs within minutes if the victim does not receive treatment.” Furthermore, according to the American Heart Association, 88 percent of cardiac arrest events occur at home, and is the leading cause of death. Effective CPR by a bystander can nearly triple a person’s chance for survival.
There will be two separate training sessions, one for a very basic class from 12 to 1 p.m., which is very informative, however this is a non-certification class. The other will be the actual certification course from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a nominal $5 fee for those taking the certification class to cover the cost of the card and processing fee.
Due to class restrictions anyone who will be taking the certification class is encouraged to RSVP to the Bethel Fire department during normal business hours at (203) 778 – 7414.
Refreshments will be served and tours of the station will also be conducted for those interested. We are always looking for new members regardless of experience or prior levels of training. Applications can be obtained by clicking here.
