Connecticut bookworm, James Mustich, author of the best-selling 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die, returns to Bethel's Byrd's Books in front of a live Zoom audience to moderate "Battle of the Books Volume IV - the Alumni Edition." On Wednesday, October 21st, 7:00pm to 9:00pm, five people - each an alumni of past "battles" - will work to convince you that they have the next book for you to read. Of course the competing books remain a secret until the event, but the competitors, promising a fierce and fun reunion, are not. They are: Chris Durante, Elizabeth Allen, Kara DiBartolo, Rick Magee and Rebecca Myers.

The format remains the same: Five passionate readers each make a case for a book they think should be on everyone's "To Be Read" list. At the end of the “battle,” the audience VOTES for the book they most want to read or reread, and a winner and runner-up are declared. Copies of 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die, covering fiction, poetry, science and science fiction, memoir, travel writing, biography, children’s books, history, and more, The 1,000 Books to Read Page-A-Day Calendar 2021 (a great holiday gift), and all five of the books in the program will be available for purchase.
