Darryl Strawberry to Speak at Walnut Hill Community Church

Yes, THE Darryl Strawberry is coming to share his story at Walnut Hill’s Bethel Campus on Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m. This is a free event, open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Darryl Strawberry is described as a legend by many who have been dazzled by the dynamics of his game, the power he possessed at the plate, and the story of redemption that continues to bring hope to so many lives. During his 17-year career, he helped lead the New York Mets to a World Series championship in 1986 and the New York Yankees to three World Series championships in 1996, 1998 and 1999. He has earned the legendary nicknames and phrases of one of the most feared home run hitters in the game of baseball, Straw’s Sweet Swing, Strawberry’s Field Forever and The Legendary Straw Man! A popular player during his career, Strawberry was voted to the All-Star Game eight straight times from 1984–1991.

Off the field, Darryl led a controversial personal life. Addictions, abuse, divorces, cancer, jail-time and other issues are just a few things that plagued his life. In 2003, Darryl and his wife Tracy had lost it all! But God’s plan was not to be undone.

Today, Darryl’s purpose and passion is serving the Lord Jesus Christ by speaking a message of hope and helping others transform their lives through the power of the gospel.
