Duracell Sues Bethel Over Property Assessment
Connecticut requires towns to reassess property values every five years.
BETHEL, CT — The Town has hired a special counsel to represent it in a lawsuit filed by Duracell U.S. Operation, the News Times has reported.
The battery maker owns property in the Berkshire Corporate Park., and in April filed a suit disputing its fair market and assessed values. The property at 14 Research Drive was assessed at $60.9 million.
Connecticut requires towns to reassess property values every five years, and it is not uncommon for businesses to formally dispute the revaluation.

Originally filed in Danbury Superior Court, the case has since moved to the judicial district of New Britain. The parties have scheduled a pretrial conference for Nov. 28.
