BETHEL, CT — Friends of a slain Bethel woman have established a fund to help ease her family's financial burden.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to benefit the family of Emily Todd, who was shot to death in Bridgeport last month.
Todd's mother and step-father have had to take off time from work to care for their 8-year-old son, and to heal, in the aftermath of the tragedy. Among the expenses piling up are the remaining lease payments on Todd's car.

"While we are going to make a heartfelt plea to the leasing company, it is highly likely that the remaining 2 years will have to be paid in full in order to satisfy the contract," the post reads in part.
A little over $4,800 of the $20,000 goal has been raised as of 6:30 Thursday evening.

Brandon Roberts, 26, was arrested in connection with Todd's killing in December. He had fled to Ohio, was captured, and extradited back to Connecticut.
Todd was a 2011 Bethel High School graduate and worked on the memory care unit at Saint John Paul II Center in Danbury.
"This is who Bethel is," the GoFundMe campaign post reads. "It’s the community that we were raised in and the community that we so proudly call our home."
