Gregory J. Marciano, 84, Passed Away Saturday

Gregory J. Marciano, 84, of Danbury, beloved husband of Elsie (Watson) Marciano, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, December 26th. He was born in Greenwich on February 21, 1931, son of the late John and Jenny (Tripodi) Marciano. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a degree in method engineering. He was a member of the fraternity, Sigma Chi. He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury.

Greg was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the United States Army.

In 1962, he founded Connecticut Coining, Inc, operating on Beaver Brook Road in Danbury for many years before moving to its current location in Bethel. He retired after 36 years with his son, Greg, to continue his professional legacy.

Greg enjoyed working in his shop, woodworking, and painting. He was also a talented basketball player, playing well into his 70’s in the lunchtime pickup game at the YMCA.

In addition to his cherished wife of 35 years, Elise, he will be sadly missed by his two sons, Gregory Marciano of Danbury, and Wayne J. Marciano and his wife, Fatima of Bethel; his stepdaughter, Sue Arnold and her husband, Greg of Brookfield; his step granddaughters, Kristina Checchia and her husband, Anthony, and Kimberly Arnold; and two step great grandchildren, Zachary and Maxwell. He is also survived by his sister, Lucy Capalbo; two nieces and a nephew.

He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Marciano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Brookfield, with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday evening between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
