How Many Bethel Residents Received Coronavirus Vaccine So Far?

State health officials released data for the first time which shows how many residents in each town have been vaccinated for COVID-19.

BETHEL, CT — According to the state Department of Public Health, a total of 1,481 Bethel residents have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

There are 19,800 Bethel residents and 7.48 percent of them have received their first dose. Bethel has 1,122 residents over the age of 75 and 509 of them have received their first dose or 45.37 percent, according to state health officials.

Since the pandemic began in March, Bethel has reported 1,475 cases of COVID-19 and 48 deaths associated with the virus.

With state and local infection rates and many other indicators pointing in a more positive direction, Gov. Ned Lamont said Monday he would relax some coronavirus restrictions on houses of worship and restaurants.

The governor will eliminate the 100-person cap on religious ceremonies and leave in place the 50 percent capacity limit. Social distancing and mask use still need to be enforced. The restaurant curfew will be pushed back from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. with 50 percent dining capacity.
